Apple always does everything the other way around

Yesterday, at the Apple iPhone 4 press conference, Steve Jobs have said that all phones have an issue with dropping calls and losing signal.  Here’s what RIM and Nokia said:

RIM’s co-CEO’s Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie:

“Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.”

Nokia:

“Antenna design is a complex subject and has been a core competence at Nokia for decades, across hundreds of phone models. Nokia was the pioneer in internal antennas; the Nokia 8810, launched in 1998, was the first commercial phone with this feature.

Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying human behavior, including how people hold their phones for calls, music playing, web browsing and so on. As you would expect from a company focused on connecting people, we prioritize antenna performance over physical design if they are ever in conflict.

In general, antenna performance of a mobile device/phone may be affected with a tight grip, depending on how the device is held. That’s why Nokia designs our phones to ensure acceptable performance in all real life cases, for example when the phone is held in either hand. Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying how people hold their phones and allows for this in designs, for example by having antennas both at the top and bottom of the phone and by careful selection of materials and their use in the mechanical design.”

It’s funny how Nokia says, “we prioritize antenna performance over physical design if they are ever in conflict”. So, does Apple do have it other way around? I think they do, and always have been doing that. If you want something that works and has infinite options, you should get a pc.

“We neeed two buttons on the mouse so that the user will have options. PC = OK, but give them the option of having more buttons, programable even if they want. MAC = No that won’t look good, and it might confuse our sheep”

Swarovski crystal encrusted MacBook dazzles at 2010 Mac User Conference

At the recent 2010 Mac User Conference held by Nonprofit Mac community Union in Seoul, Nam, who’s a member of the union, presented his Mac. The crystal studded MacBook was Nam’s entry for the Mac Accessories Contest. A sparkling creation, it definitely left one and all present at the conference bedazzled. A beauty, this is one bling gadget I would love to own and flaunt.

Completely delete your ex off your computer

I hate break ups. Especially when I’m breaking up with someone. It’s really hard to keep someone completely away from your life now, when there’s Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. Ex-Blocker plugin is the solution.

The Ex-Blocker is a plugin for Firefox and Chrome that ignores your ex on the internet. Just give it your ex’s name, Facebook name, Twitter account, and the plugin will take care of the rest for you.

But the plugin is only for the fucked up people that just ignore others. When I  break up woth someone, I still try to be friends with them. I know how it feels when jerk just ignores you. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

Apple’s Friend Bar: A Place Where Fanboys Can Talk At People All Day Long

The Onion has done it again. The Onion is really great at parodying a wide range of topics, but they always seem to be especially good at parodying Apple topics. Who’s the latest victim? Apple’s Genius Bars. According to The Onion, Apple will soon unveil something called “Friend Bar”, which Apple users can visit to find someone to “talk at” about their newest mundane Apple thoughts.
What makes this video even funnier is that an idea like this really doesn’t seem all that realistic. Like WTF? There is already a dating site for Apple users that is growing quite nicely.
Just think about it. What if there would be a Friend Bar?

iPhone clones?

It’s funny to see people who think the iPhone is “the perfect phone”. Each person is unique, and so is a phone. When choosing a phone, it all depends on what you want it to have. It looks like Steve Jobs have brainwashed people, so they think that Apple has all the best products. The following video criticises people like that. They don’t care that another phone has a larger display, faster network, a better OS, etc.

Blackberry 6 is getting into the game

<

Blackberry 6 is finally making what everybode else already has. iPhone, Android, and Windows Mobile already have all of those eye candies, global searchies, social plugins/widgets/apps, and so on. I’m, as an owner of a BlackBerry, is really excited for this OS, and really hoping that it will support BlackBerry Bold 9000. If it will not support my device, I’m switching to Google Nexus One :P

BlackBerry 6: What iPhone did yesterday, tomorrow!

BlackBerry vs. iPhone: Fight

Today when people are deciding to buy a new smartphone, they stuck with a question “BlackBerry or iPhone?” I’ve got to use both of the smartphones. I am not talking about BlackBerry Storm in this article though because BlackBerry Storm’s touchscreen just sucks. I had an iPhone 3G for about a month (I lost it..), and I have a BlackBerry Bold 9000 for about 3 months now. Honestly, I really love my blackberry, but it really depends on what you want from your phone.

Let’s start with pros of iPhone. iPhone is really great because of the number and diversity of the apps. There are a lot of apps that are free, and there are a lot of really cheap apps ($0.99) as well.  The apps are just awesome. There are a lot of games, and most of them are really cool. If you don’t believe me check out the iTunes App store. The Facebook app is really great. My favourite feature about it is that you can chat with anyone who’s online. Another iPhone’s cool feature is obviously accelerometer. It makes the iPhone a great gaming platform.

Now, let’s talk about some cons. Unless your iPhone is jailbroken, you cannot customize your iPhone in any way but changing the wallpaper on the lock screen. So customization-wise iPhone is pretty poor. Again, unless your iPhone is jailbroken, there’s no way to have multitasking on your phone either. Well, yeah you can launch the iPod app and then some other app, and listen to your music and do something else at the same time. But you cannot launch two different apps at the same time, besides iPod app and something else, and be able to switch between them. Yeah yeah I know iPhone 4 came out a few weeks ago, and it has all of these functions and a front camera. That’s just awesome. I’d totally buy it, but why? There’s gonna be another iPhone next year. If you’re ready to spend $200 every year on a new iPhone, go ahead! (Read until the end, you’ll understand why I’m not comparing iPhone 4 with a BlackBerry) I’m just comparing the two phones.

Now let’s talk about Blackberry, pros first. First of all, a BlackBerry has a physical keyboard. In my opinion, it’s a lot more convenient to type on than on an “on-screen” keyboard. Besides the hardware, the software is amazing as well. The phone is very customizable. There are a plenty of themes you can choose from or can download free software made by BlackBerry and make your own themes. It’s very easy. Besides themes, in my everyday life I use many apps: music player, browser, weather, BlackBerry in South Africa (World Cup live score updater), and more. I need all of these apps to be running at the same time, AND I’d like to be able to switch between the applications. BlackBerry has it all. No need to jailbreak or hack anything. The coolest app on a Blackberry is obviously BBM (BlackBerry Messenger). It’s just like MSN, but it takes a lot less data. It’s completely free to message any person in the world that has a BlackBerry too. In addition, Blackberry has an MSN app that is totally free and works great. It comes with the OS already, what’s really surprising.

Now BlackBerry’s cons. BlackBerry obviously has its own App store, and many of the apps SUCK. I mean they’re really good.. But who in the world would buy an app for $6 or $8 or $20 or even more? $4 is the cheapest price on the app store I could find. Well, if you’re a businessman, and really need those office apps (Word, Spreadsheet, PowerPoint, etc.) that cost over a hundred dollars, then sure! Go ahead and buy it! Blackberry’s apps and their prices really piss me off. The prices, as you can see, are @#$%& high. The apps, comparing to iPhone’s apps, really suck.. iPhone’s balls.. Just joking ;) But if you compare them to the iPhone’s apps they’re bad. You can’t even search for people on Facebook by name (that aren’t your friends) or chat with your friends online! I mean.. What the heck is that?!

In conclusion (btw, conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.. ;) ), Blackberry is for people that love to text (or in other words that love to exercise their fingers.. ;) ). BBM, MSN, and the texting app are very cool and easy to use. In addition all BlackBerrys (BlackBerries?), except Storm, have a physical keyboard, what makes it really easy and convenient to type on. iPhone is for people that love free and cool apps. The apps are just awesome, and there’s really an app for everything. So the question is not “which phone is better?” It really depends on you and your needs. So choose wisely ;)

PS: With iPhone 4 release, I wouldn’t even compare these two types of phones. iPhone 4 can do everything that is said above. So if you really want a “perfect phone”, get an iPhone 4 J iPhone 4 is a beast.

Firefox 4 Beta – Whoa!

Firefox 4 Beta 1 was out last night, and I want to tell you it’s pretty amazing.

Firefox 3 was really slow to launch. Now it takes about 1-2 seconds to launch the browser itself comparing to 5-7 seconds launching Firefox 3. Surprisingly, I really liked the overall experience with the browser. The UI is different. It’s kinda looks like Google Chrome now. The top bar with the tabs is now at the very top.

I used Google Chrome for about a year now and I still like it more than Firefox 4 Beta 1 because of only one reason: SPEED. Google Chrome has an amazing speed loading pages. I’ve used all the popular web browsers, and Google Chrome is the fastest. Firefox 4′s speed is improved, but still is not as fast. Keep it up guys! You’re going the right way!

I’m going to switch from Google Chrome to Firefox 4 for now just to test it.
